Everything you need to get started at HPCH
Welcome to High Plains Children’s Home. We are so happy to have you here!
Your first day will mostly involve setting up accounts and getting familiar with policies and procedures. Following are a few steps to get you started.
- Staff Directory — employee contact information and departments

Samantha will schedule a time to get your payroll set up and issue your company credit card.
If applicable, you’ll also check out cottage and vehicle keys through Pam.
Head over to Training Resources for a list of required computer-based trainings you can begin working on now.
If you have any questions about training, contact Amy King.
Office Hours & Time Off
8:30am – 4:30pm Monday – Thursday and 8:30am – Noon on Fridays
If you office in the main Administrative Office building ("Hill Headquarters") you will generally be expected to be present during these hours, with the exception of a 1-hour lunch break.
We always do our best to ensure your workload is manageable within normal office hours so it's very rare that you would ever need to work outside these times. In the event you have to work late one day, you have the benefit of compensating with "Flex Time". For example: if you work until 5:30pm one day to meet a deadline, you may "flex" that time by not arriving until 9:30am the next morning.
Flex time must be taken within the same pay period it is earned and cannot be used to frequently alter your regular office hours.
Depending on your position, your allotted time off will look different. If you work in Direct Care, your schedule will typically be 3 weeks on, 1 week off. For all other positions, you will accrue vacation days and sick days based on your length of employment.
Submit leave requests through Calamari, our leave management platform. Make sure your supervisor approves your request before you leave!
We strive to make your time at work enjoyable and as flexible as possible. If you ever find yourself feeling overwhelmed, don't hesitate to speak to your supervisor about it. You have a lot of fantastic people here ready to support you and help make your job easier!
